Pastor Lorenzo Sewell of 180 Church in Detroit delivered a brief sermon titled “Enough is Enough” on the opening night of the Republican National Committee’s first-ever midterm convention in Dallas, urging attendees to view the November elections through a lens of spiritual conflict, according to reporting by Leonardo Blair for The Christian Post.

‘Enough is enough’ from the RNC stage

Speaking at the American Airlines Center on Sept. 9, 2026, Sewell declared from the stage, “How many know that we are saying today, not today, Satan? You will not steal our country. You will not have our children. You will not have our families; enough is enough! I know I got somebody in this room that believes in the King of Glory, the one who is strong and mighty, the one who is mighty in battle,” the report noted. Blair reported that Sewell alluded to Scriptures including Psalm 24 and Acts 4:12.

“He’s got the only name given among men whereby we must be saved, and that’s the name of Jesus,” Sewell continued. “If you believe in that name, put your hands back on and give your great God great glory! … Look at somebody and say ‘enough is enough, enough is enough.’ Devil, you won’t have the land where my fathers died.”

Call to ‘fight’ and patriotic appeals

Blair reported that Sewell’s appearance lasted about 2.5 minutes and closed with a call to “fight, fight, fight for the soul of a nation.”

“Devil, you won’t have the land of the pilgrims’ pride, from every mountainside. We believe that freedom will ring,” he said, asking the audience if they were proud to be Americans and drawing approving shouts, according to the report. “For at least I know that I’m free. And I thank God for the men and the women that died that gave that right to me. I’m gonna stand up and fight! Fight, fight for the soul of a nation.”

Convention context

The midterm convention is scheduled for Sept. 9–10 in Dallas. Blair reported that U.S. President Donald Trump would headline the RNC’s first-ever midterm convention, an event the report said was first proposed by Trump in a social media post over the summer and later adopted by the Republican National Committee.
