Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the first trailer for its upcoming animated film Hexed, and one former psychic is warning Christian parents that the movie’s magical storyline should not be treated as harmless entertainment.
Jenn Nizza, who has publicly described leaving occult practices after coming to faith in Jesus, told CBN News the film is “really disturbing” because, in her view, it presents witchcraft in “a really beautiful way.”

“[It] makes me think of Satan masquerading as an angel of light — and that’s really disturbing,” Nizza said in the CBN News interview.
A Story About an Outcast With Magical Powers
According to the source report, Hexed is scheduled to release in theaters Nov. 25. The film follows a young teenage girl named Billie, described as an outcast who struggles to fit in.
Billie then discovers she has magical powers and enters a world called Hexe, where she learns about witchcraft, spells, and channeling supernatural abilities, according to the report.
That premise is what concerns Nizza. She argued that the film appears to suggest there can be a morally good form of witchcraft, a claim she rejects based on Scripture.
Nizza Points to Biblical Warnings
CBN News cited Deuteronomy 18:10-14, which warns against fortune-telling, sorcery, omens, witchcraft, spell-casting, mediums, psychics, and calling forth the spirits of the dead.
Nizza said Christians should not separate the movie’s visual appeal from the spiritual practices it depicts.
“It’s so important to disregard the aesthetic, because it’s the same evil and it’s the same author of these practices: the devil,” she told CBN News.
She added, “This isn’t just a movie. This is implanting and brainwashing the demonic agenda into your minds and into the minds of your children.”
Nizza also urged discernment over what families watch, saying believers should “guard our eye gates” and “ear gates” and avoid celebrating anything “that Jesus died on the cross for.”
Why the Character’s Search for Belonging Hit Close to Home
Nizza said she related to Billie’s storyline because her own interest in witchcraft began when she was young and looking for meaning, answers, and belonging.
“Through that vulnerability … she’s offered this purpose, identity, and power through witchcraft,” Nizza said of the character. “That is exactly how it started for me when those demonic doors were opened … at age 12 [or] 13.”
She told CBN News that, at the time, she believed her readings were helpful because she thought she was communicating with deceased people to bring healing, peace, wisdom, or closure to loved ones.
After her conversion, Nizza said she came to believe she had not been speaking with the dead, but with “demons” masquerading as deceased family members.
“I was completely demonically oppressed,” she said, describing what she called heavy periods of depression and anxiety connected to her occult involvement.
Nizza said that after she was saved, she was led by the Holy Spirit to study the Bible and concluded that God condemns witchcraft in its entirety.
A Debate Over Entertainment and Discernment
Some viewers may regard fantasy stories involving magic as entertainment. Nizza’s warning, however, frames Hexed as a spiritual concern for Christian families, especially because the story centers on a young person finding identity and power through supernatural practices.
