CBN News reported that thousands gathered along the Pacific coast in Oceanside, California, for “Movement San Diego,” a multi‑church evangelistic event that included open‑air ocean baptisms, worship, prayer, and evangelism.
What happened at the pier
According to CBN News, the event took place on a Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater, with live worship from Circuit Rider Music and Upper Room. The Movement San Diego group wrote in a social post, “Thank You, Jesus! Every baptism represents a life changed, a heart surrendered, and a YES to following Him!!”
What organizers said
Pastor Mike Doyle of Movement Church in New York City, identified by CBN News as the founder of Movement San Diego, said beforehand, “The whole heart for the event is we want to see revival in California, and we want to see people come to know the Lord Jesus.”
Related baptism efforts
CBN News noted that the California‑based group Baptize the World posted afterward, “Movement San Diego was INCREDIBLE! So many people made the decision to publicly declare their faith in Jesus through baptism, and we’re still celebrating every life changed and every YES to Jesus!”
Per the same report, Baptize the World is a broader effort initially launched by Pastor Mark Francey of Oceans Church in Irvine as “Baptize SoCal” at Pirate’s Cove, where more than 4,000 people were baptized in 2023. CBN News added that the initiative expanded into Baptize California, then Baptize America, and now Baptize the World, with its next synchronized mass‑baptism campaign scheduled for Pentecost Sunday, May 16, 2027. The source also said Baptize the World is not technically connected to Movement San Diego, though both pursue similar aims.
What we don’t know
CBN News did not provide a verified count of baptisms at the Oceanside event, and Kingdom Watch News has not independently confirmed attendance or participation figures.
