Videos posted to X and highlighted by the Western Journal show a plane used as Air Force One when the president is aboard making two low passes over the White House during a Halloween event on Thursday. The Western Journal said President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were in attendance.
Two low passes on video
According to the Western Journal, a 39-second clip shows the aircraft first appearing near the Washington Monument while the president waves and the first lady watches. The outlet noted that an account labeled “Rapid Response 47” on X called it “An epic Air Force One flyover at the White House for the trick-or-treaters!”
A second clip posted to X by user Peggy Helman showed the plane’s return pass in the opposite direction, appearing from behind the White House.
Online reaction splits
Mediaite described the flyover as a “stunt,” citing the Washington Post’s account of “alarm among residents.” Critical posts on X included one user calling it “a dangerous stunt” in busy airspace and another labeling it “reckless and immature” and a “waste of taxpayer money.” Supportive posts praised the spectacle for children, with one user saying it’s something “those kids will remember forever,” and another writing, “I love how much the President loves flyovers.”
Two X users who said they were elsewhere in Washington described the plane as “crazy low,” with one writing it “scared the crap out of me” during an evening walk in Brookland and another saying, “I can’t believe how low it was.”
Resident alert noted
According to Mediaite, Washington’s DCAlert system notified residents at 5:24 p.m. ET of a planned military flyover.
