CBN News reports that Lakepointe Church in Texas says 882 people were baptized in one day. The outlet attributed the figure to a joint Instagram post by Senior Pastor Josh Howerton and the church.
What the church said
In the Instagram message cited by CBN News, Howerton and Lakepointe wrote, “There are few things more powerful than watching someone publicly say, ‘My life belongs to Jesus’.” They added, “That number is real people with real stories… And now, they’re standing in the water saying JESUS has changed everything, and HE IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS. Never stop praying for one more to know Christ!”

A packed day, one attendee says
CBN News also quoted a woman who said she was at the service: “It was SO AMAZING! We stayed because all the baptisms ran service over by almost an hour! … 700 scheduled and 182 in service leaps of faith!!!”
Recent figures the church has reported
According to CBN News, Lakepointe previously reported 2,772 first-time decisions for Jesus at Easter and said nearly 700 people were baptized last September.
Wider context from prior reporting
CBN News noted it has recently covered other large baptism events, including Biltmore Church in North Carolina reporting 458 baptisms in a single day, which that church described as the largest such day in its 137-year history. The outlet has framed these mass baptisms in the U.S. and overseas as signs of a broader “spiritual awakening.”
