How to Share the Gospel in a Hostile World
Sharing the gospel in today’s world can be intimidating, especially when faced with hostility or indifference. However, the call to make disciples (Matthew 28:19) remains, and as Christians, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to fulfill this mission.
One of the most important things to remember is that evangelism is not about winning arguments; it’s about winning hearts. 1 Peter 3:15 encourages believers to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” Gentleness and respect are key when sharing the gospel, especially in hostile environments.
It’s also important to rely on the Holy Spirit’s guidance. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells His disciples that they will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on them and will be His witnesses. This same power is available to us today. By relying on God’s wisdom, we can discern the right moments and methods to share our faith.
Finally, our lives should reflect the gospel we preach. Colossians 4:5-6 encourages us to “be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt.” By living out our faith with love, integrity, and kindness, we demonstrate the truth of the gospel in a way that words alone cannot.
